In the US, this is usually simply called "pan fried."

I believe deep fried Mars Bars were served up and originated in Scottish fish and chip shops. The Mars bar is coated in batter deep fried and when cooked is a soft centered sweet in batter.
Churros are believed to originate from Spain. They are a popular fried dough pastry typically coated in sugar and served as a dessert or snack.
Not sure what your diet limitations are, but I pan fried a red snapper fillet with a little bit of butter and coated it with almond butter and a little soy sauce and crushed pistachio's. It was delicious!
