The central theme of Leviticus is God's love for His children.

Taken from Torah.org:

"Rabbi Shimshon Raphael Hirsch defined Sefer Vayikra (Leviticus) as a presentation of the ideal that God intended for His people. Sefer Bereshis (Genesis) established that separation is natural and essential for creation and that the family of Avraham was chosen from the rest of humanity to be apart and different.

Sefer Shemos (Exodus) declared that the reason why the Jews were chosen was to receive the Torah and live by its ideals and values. In doing so they would fulfill the mandate (Exodus ch.19) to be "a kingdom of priests and a holy nation."

Sefer Vayikra (Leviticus) is a detailed description of what a chosen lifestyle of kingship and sanctity is to be. It describes the goal toward which we should aspire as a priestly and sanctified nation. The essence of Vayikra is how a person and a nation should serve God. Couched in terms of the Korbanos (sacrifices), framed within the confines of the Mishkan, and performed by the family of Aharon Hakohain, Sefer Vayikra describes a world of purpose and devotion in the service of God."

It also contains the laws of kosher foods, purity, morals, festivals and more.

What this world doesn't know, understand... or believe [even if anyone should bother to read it]... is that when the LORD and KING Jesus Christ returns to earth to establish His Kingdom upon it -- He's going to OPEN THE BOOKS OF THE BIBLE TO JUDGE IT!

"He that rejecteth Me, and receive not My Words [the Words of God that are recorded in the books of the Bible... including the book of LEVITICUS], hath One that JUDGETH HIM: THE WORD THAT I HAVE SPOKEN [and caused or inspired to be recorded], THE SAME SHALL JUDGE HIM IN THE LAST DAY... the Father WHICH SENT ME, He gave me a Commandment, WHAT I SHOULD SAY, and WHAT I SHOULD SPEAK..." (John 12:48-49).

Jesus Christ and the saints that His Father have been calling out of the world throughout the generations of man ARE GOING TO RULE OVER, LEAD and JUDGE THE WORLD during the King's thousand year rule:

"Do ye not know [Paul wrote to the called-out saints in Corinth: and subsequently to you and I if we regard ourselves among God's 'church' or 'called-out-ones' who shall rule the nations of the world with a 'rod of iron' -- anyone who may read and believe those same Words inspired and recorded in the Bible for us today] THAT THE SAINTS SHALL JUDGE THE WORLD? ... Know ye not that WE SHALL JUDGE ANGELS?..." (I Cor.6:2-3).

All of the works of men throughout man's generations ARE GOING TO BE JUDGED AND MEASURED AGAINST THE WORDS OF GOD THAT ARE RECORDED IN THE BOOKS OF THE BIBLE!

"...I saw the [resurrected] dead, small and great, stand before God; and THE BOOKS [of the Bible] WERE OPENED... and the dead WERE JUDGED OUT OF THOSE THINGS WHICH WERE WRITTEN IN THE BOOKS [just as Jesus reveals to His servants in John 6], according to THEIR WORKS [all men's works... all the things every man has done in his life... shall be judged by the Words recorded in the Bible]." (Rev.20:

And it will be Jesus Christ AND HIS SAINTS who will do the Judging and Teaching and Leading of the nations for a thousand years:

Jesus Christ: "...hast made us unto our God [the Father] KINGS and PRIESTS: and WE SHALL REIGN ON THE EARTH." (Rev.5:10)

So, what does this have to do with THE THEME OF LEVITICUS? Well... the tribe of Levi was set aside by God as HIS PRIESTHOOD to minister and administer His Laws, Ways and Teachings to and among His people.

"...the LORD [Jesus Christ; the Creator God of the Old Testament - John 1:3] spake unto Aaron, 'Thou shalt have NO INHERITANCE in their land [the Promised Land of the other tribes], neither shalt thou have ANY PART AMONG THEM: I AM thy part and thine inheritance among the children of Israel. And, behold, I HAVE GIVEN THE CHILDREN OF LEVI ALL THE TENTH [tithe] IN ISRAEL FOR AN INHERITANCE, FOR THIER SERVICE WHICH THEY SERVE, EVEN THE SERVICE OF THE TABERNACLE OF THE CONGREGATION... the Levites shall DO THE SERVICE OF THE TABERNACLE OF THE CONGREGATION..." (Num.18:20-21).

In the same way, God's saints shall become the new KINGS, PRIESTS and LEADERS of God and Christ's newly established Government who shall MINISTER and ADMINISTER GOD'S LAWS, WAYS AND TEACHINGS to the people of ALL THE NATIONS OF THE WORLD... and they will do it IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAWS OF GOD RECORDED IN THE BOOK OF LEVITICUS!

"...the saints of the Most High shall take the Kingdom, and possess the Kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever." (Dan.7:18)

"...the Ancient of Days [Jesus Christ] came, and Judgment was GIVEN TO THE SAINTS OF THE MOST HIGH; and the time came that THE SAINTS POSSESSED THE KINGDOM." (verse 22)

"...the God of heaven SET UP A KINGDOM, which shall NEVER BE DESTROYED: and the Kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall BREAK IN PIECES AND CONSUME all these kingdoms, and IT SHALL STAND FOR EVER." (Dan.2:44)

"...and the Government SHALL BE UPON HIS SHOULDER;... of the increase of His Government and PEACE THERE SHALL BE NO END, upon the throne of David, and upon His Kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with JUDGMENT and with JUSTICE from henceforth even for ever, THE ZEAL OF THE LORD OF HOSTS WILL PERFORM THIS." (Isa.9:6-7)

Unlike the nations of the world today... including the unfortunately lawless, Godless leaders of the American government; the Government of God, when it is finally established on the earth, WILL BE RULED BY THE ENFORCEMENT OF GOD'S LAWS recorded in the book of Leviticus and throughout The Bible. And the "theme" of the book of Leviticus is THE LAWS OF GOD. These are the DIVINE CONSTITUTIONAL Laws by which Christ and His saints will rule the nations of the earth:

"...he that overcometh, and keepeth My works unto the end, to him WILL I GIVE POWER OVER THE NATIONS: and he shall RULE THEM WITH A ROD OF IRON..." (Rev.2:26-27).

Halley's Bible Handbook says this about the book of "Leviticus": "The word "Leviticus" means "pertaining to Levites" ; that is, the book contains the System of Laws, administered by the Levitical Priesthood, under which the Hebrew nation lived..." (Halley's Bible Handbook/ with the King James Version: Classic Edition - LEVITICUS p.134).

But... as I said... the world doesn't know or believe any of this, and merely sees Leviticus [and pretty much all the rest of the Bible in this modern high-tech computerized world] as ancient, outdated Jewish laws, Jewish genealogies, Jewish beddie-bye stories, myths and all-around general superstitious nonsense.

The world will have to wait for Christ's return to witness the Truth of the Words recorded therein; when the world will, at last, find itself being Ruled and Judged by it:

"...then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven: and then SHALL ALL THE TRIBES [nations] OF THE EARTH MOURN, and THEY SHALL SEE THE SON OF MAN COMING IN THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN with POWER AND GREAT GLORY." (Matt.24:30)

"For this is the covenant that I will make with those of the House of Israel after those days, saith the LORD; 'I will PUT MY LAWS INTO THEIR MIND, and WRITE THEM IN THEIR HEARTS... for ALL SHALL KNOW ME, FROM THE LEAST TO THE GREATEST..." (Heb.8:10-11).

And those "Laws" that all the nations of the earth will have "written in their hearts and minds" are recorded primarily in Leviticus... and elsewhere throughout the books.

The Book of Leviticus (1) is primarily a book of laws and codes relating to sacrifices, the Levite priesthood and ritual purity. Modern biblical scholars say Leviticus was largely written by an anonymous source now known as the Priestly Source, writing during or shortly after the Babylonian Exile and therefore nearly a thousand years after the time attributed to Moses.
