The commonest cause of fire in the kitchen is the stove or stove top. The main thing is to be careful while cooking, but installing a fire extinguisher near the stove would be a good idea.
If you have food, grease left in the stove or on the stove top it can catch on fire. Bad wiring can also catch on fire.
Fastest thing is to soak a dishtowel and drop it over it.
Fire safety tip in the kitchen: NEVER leave the stove on when an adult is not present to observe a problem occurring with the stove, with what is being cooked, with something that can fall onto the heating elements, and with any children, pets or others who might come into contact with the stove or things cooking on the stove.

Fire + Stone + Coal = Stove
The firefighters fight the fire (if they are there). If the fire is when the firefighters are on another fire the next closest fire company is called to put out the fire. Several fire stations have caught on fire. Fires at a fire station are usually caused by firefighters cooking and when they get called to an emergency they forget to turn off the stove or oven in the excitement.
