There are not three, but, in fact, FOUR topigraphical regions:

1- A low-sandy eastern coastal plain.

2- The eastern high lands, starting at 300 to more than 2100m in altitude and extending from Cape York Peninsula in northern Queensland south to Tasmania.

3- The central plains consisting largely or north-south series of drainage basins, including the great artesian basin, which is about 1751480 sq km or territory and is the biggest area of internal drainage in the world.

4- The western plateau, covered with great deserts and "bigger plains" rising 300 to 600 m tall and using most of the western half of its continent.
