Assuming a 1.6L engine, timing is generally controlled by the timing belt. Can adjust the timing by loosening the front lower bolt on the distributor and then rotating the distributor clockwise or counter clockwise. Use a timing light to set timing correctly. I believe it is 10 BTDC

You can usually start with the easyest way (unless you feel like tearing the block apeart like a mad scientist), under/or around the distributor there should be a bolt. Loosen the bolt enough to rotate the distributor. BEFORE you do this, start your engine! They make Timing Lights if you are going to precice timing. But on my old caddy and on my Dakota ive done all my timing adjustments my ear. If you would like more information, about profecially adjusting your timing, e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org Keith

Connect a timing light, loosen the bolt on the distributor and turn it. If you have a model that is contolled by the EMM, you can only adjust the clearance of the cam and crank positions sensors. The rest is controlled by the computer and is determined by the software. Note that adjusting the sensors only improves the input to the EMM and does not control the timing.
Yes it will.
