As I understand, the timing is computer controlled on the 98 metro. this means that it does not have a traditional distributor cap (which can be adjusted mechanically) but rather an electronic sensor. I believe it can be reprogramed with a mod chip though. --RS4

The XFI metro has 49 horses the base metro 3 cyl has 55 horses a 1.3 4 cyl metro has 70 horses.
no. all geo metro 1.0L motors are non-interference motors. however it would be a very good idea to make sure the timing belt tensioner spring and tensioner roller and timing gears were not damaged by the bad timing belt. also you will have to clean out any debris at the crank position sensor at the crankshaft when installing the new timing belt so the fragments will not interfere with the sensor picking up the timing signal off the motor
the metros came with a 1.0 and a 1.3 so it could be either one i would just pop both hoods and look for differances yes the motors are the same. the metro did come with a 1.3 liter but that size is a 4 cyl not a 3 cyl.
4 cyl : belt. Town and Country's have never been built with 4 cyl, so this is miss-leading The answer should be Timing Chain. There is no Timing Belt to be replaced on 2005 models if the person who first entered this is correct about 6 cyl engines having a Timing Chain. 6 cyl : chain.
yes
Timing CHAIN
25 ft lb
Timing and idle are computer controlled and not adjustable
It should fit as long as both engines are the 3 cyl 1 litre types, but you will need to swap flywheels.
I was told by a dealership that the 3.5l 5 cyl in my 2004 GMC Canyon has a timing chain and does not need to be changed.
The timing marks are on the timing cover for the crank pulley, and on the cyl head for the cam ...
