That is the speed rating of the tire, S, followed by an R which indicates the tire is a radial tire. The S speed rating indicates the tire is designed to run at a sustained speed of 106 mph and no more.
AnswerThe W in 91W after the size code indicates a speed rating. While these tires are proably Z rated (speeds in excess of 149MPH) in the tire size the W indicates that the tires are rated to a higher speed. W and X were added since there were no guidelines about how much over 149 Z rated tires were good for.W indicates a top rated speed of 168MPH._____The "91" indicates load capacity per tire! You'll get about 1350lbs per tire.:)
That's a rating for how well the tire tread wears - the higher the rating the more miles you can put on the tire before it needs to be replaced
What you're thinking of is PROBABLY the width in millimeters, if the markings are something like 185/60R15.5 (although everything after "185/" might be different in your case, but that's just an example. The "185" indicates the tire width in that instance.
The load capacity of a tire is indicate by the star rating (in case of radial tire) and the ply rating (in cse of bias tire).
108=the load rating per tire is 2205 lbs S=the speed rating on this tire is 112 mph
In the tire rating, P195 70R14, the R stands for radial.
Tyre plating indicates the number of plies present in the tyre. If the tyre consists of sythetic plies, then the number of synthetic plies has to be converted to equivalent number of cotton plies that is the real tyre ply rating.
A z rating on a tire is a speed rating, for most u.s. roads an h rated tire is fine, check with local tire dealer
The county of manufacture is listed on the sidewall of the tire in plain english. The code indicates the particular tire plant where the tire was made.
It's printed on the side of every tire.
It is the maximum speed your tire is made for. It is indicated by the last letter on the tire designation. - eg, 215 65 R15 95 H - the H is speed rating.
