Rats go for about $3.00 at a petstore.

when theyre babies, you can keep them in a tank, always have atleast 2 rats together, if you only get one, she/he will get lonely and die from depression.

When a rat grows up to be an adult you should get them a cage which should cost anywhere from $30-100.

Theyre not expensive to take care of otherwise, they'll eat just about anything (look up rat diet on Google) theyre not picky with their food.

:]

It should be around $60 to start you out. Not a lot, I think a proper hamster care would cost you more.

And rats make the best pets.
