Way too many variables to answer this question. Year make, engine size, hitch type, tire size and rating, transmission type, number of marbles between your ears. Here's a rule of thumb. If it will roll down the highway at 55 mph and your not floored, your probably OK. If you can climb the hills without a mile of traffic behind you, your probably OK. If you never bury the temp gauge, your probably OK. But remember, you can't tow something bigger than the truck.

for years, Firestone has changed the oil on my 2001 4 runner. They always filled it with 5.2 qts and now they are filling it with 5.5 qts. What is the capacity of a 2001 Toyota 4 runner limited with 2wd?

It really depends on how much your objects weigh and how big your trailer is.
Towing a 1994 4-runner is possible, but it would take a heavy duty truck, most likely. A 4-runner weighs about 2 tons, so it needs something with good tow capacity to tow it.
5.5 Quarts with oil/filter change.
The 2001 Toyota Highlander with a 4-cylinder engine has a towing capacity of approximately 1,500 pounds. This capacity is suitable for light loads, such as small trailers or boats. If you need to tow heavier loads, it's advisable to consider a model with a V6 engine, which offers a higher towing capacity. Always consult the owner's manual for specific towing guidelines and recommendations.
