It depends on engine type (4.3L v6, 4.8L v8, 5.3L v8, 6.0L v8) and vehicle type (cargo or passenger).
If you have a passenger van, then your engine size is 6.0L v8 since that is the only engine option for passenger van. Towing capacity is now dependent on axle ratio (AR). If you have 3.73 AR then your maximum towing capacity is 7800 lbs. If you have 4.10 AR, then your maximum towing capacity is 9800 lbs.
If you have a cargo van, then you need to find which of the four engine types and the axle ratio that is in your cargo van. The chart below shows maximum towing capacity in pounds.
engine size axle ratio maximum towing capacity
--------------- ------------- ---------------------------------
4.3L v6 3.73 4500 lbs
4.8L v8 3.73 6200 lbs
