By capacity are you asking how heavy a trailer can you tow or what is the combined vehicle weight rating (CGVWR) of the van, load inside it, and the trailer? A good way to find out is go to U-haul.com. I think they still sell trailer hitches that will bolt to the rear subframe, and they may still have the specs for ram vans on their web site. If not call/visit a RV dealer that sells towing gear and they'll be able to help. The 3500s were rated around 8800 lbs GVW themselves (van and cargo inside it), but with the 5.2 I think you were limited to adding no more than 6000 lb trailer to that and sway bars were recommended to help maintain control of the trailer. If you had the 5.9 I think you could go for a bigger trailer (perhaps 7500 lbs) if the 5.9 had the heavier transmission to handle the added load. All this assumes the trailer has it's own brakes. Do not tow without them unless the trailer is under 3000 lbs if you want to stop safely.
