Till to day only two bateria were known to cause acute pharyngitis. Beta hemolyticas streptococci and another is Diphtheria bacillus. This generation of doctor on the verge of retirement has not seen the diphtheria bacillus. But now new bactria has come forward as a cause of pharyngitis. That is gonnococci. Injection ceftriaxone 1 gram IV as a single dose will cure the condition. It has very long half life of 10 to 12 hours. And post antibacterial effect last for 24 hours. Now gonococci are almost universally resistant to injection Procaine Penicillin.
