That's a hard question.
It different for each animal since they are also individuals like humans.
Animals need to be taken care of like it was a human.
Humans are probably more sensitive to stuff than animals but that doesn't change how you take care of the problem.
This may cost your job (adults) but it will help to slowly pull yourself away.
Like going to work at 10:00 and come home and 11:00 the first time.
Then when the pet gets use to you gone for that long you leave from 9:00 to 12:00.
Soon enough you will be able to work normally.
Also ALWAYS greet your pet and let your pet know you won't abandon it.
Pets usely are afraid of being left.
So you have no choice but to show it that you won't leave it.
If it acts good while your gone give it some treats when you get home.
When it acts bad while your gone still greet it happily because the pet still needs to know you love it.
When its bad don't give it a treat.
Soon enough your pet should know that you will come back for it and learn to stay calm no matter what.
Note: I am not an EXPERT on dogs but I had the same problem with one of my dogs. He wouldn't cross bridges, stay in cages, be alone. He did have separation anxiety. So I know a little bit of how to deal with it.
