The drying up of the Euphrates is in final preparation for the battle at Armageddon.
This prophecy is found in the 16th chapter of Revelation. In the chronology of Revelation, chapter 16 reveals the last seven "vial plagues" of God poured out on the earth just before He makes His final descent onto the Mount of Olives from the clouds with His saints and innumerable army of angels to engage the armies of the earth.
With the Euphrates dried up, the invading military forces coming out of a united Russia and China (Gog and Magog) will be unimpeded on their march toward Jerusalem.
It's then that Satan calls the governments of men (influences and puts it into their minds) to Armageddon.
"...I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the Dragon, and out of the mouth of the Beast, and out of the mouth of the False Prophet. For they are the spirits of devils (demons), working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, TO GATHER THEM TO THE BATTLE OF THAT GREAT DAY OF GOD ALMIGHTY... and he (should be THEY, the three demons) gathered them together into a place called in the Hebrew tongue Armageddon." (Rev.16:13-16)
