The reply was a repeat of Scrooges comment "are there no prisons, are there no work houses"
All of irony is generally just sarcasm or cynicism, whether it is verbal irony, situational irony, or dramatic irony. Irony says the opposite of what you mean. For example, let's say you spent 4 hours fixing your sister's computer. She says "Thanks" in a deadpan voice as she takes her computer. You reply, "Hey, don't hurt yourself with all that pent up gratitude you're holding inside and carrying around!"Irony like sarcasm can be said nicely without much tone and still have the same meaning and effect.Said calmly without raising your voice: "Hey, don't hurt yourself with all that pent up gratitude you're holding inside and carrying around!"Said emphatically: "Hey, don't hurt yourself with all that pent up gratitude you're holding inside and carrying around!"They both carry the same message. Often, saying irony calmly without raising your voice has a deeper effect.
This is a bit of a director's call, but I would gauge from her behaviour in the Mousetrap scene, that she is frightened by him. Her responses are tight and non-communicative: "Yes, my lord." "No, my lord." Her slightest comment results in a savage and cruel reply. " 'Tis brief, my lord." she blandly observes, and "As woman's love." is the vicious reply. From her soliloquy "O what a noble mind is here o'erthrown" we know that she believes him to be mad and dangerous.
I think this happens because there is something there that they really need to finish. You could try this: Turn everything in your house off and sit down. Then say this: If there is a ghost/spirit present please give me a small sign. Wait for a reply and carry on from there. Hope this helps! :D
Shalom is the reply to shalom.
I will reply to you. or I will reply you soon. Which sentence is right?
Reply is a verb (reply, replies, replied, replying).
When you 'reply', the reply is only sent to the person who wrote the mail. When you 'reply to all' the reply is sent to the person who wrote the mail + everyone who received the mail.
The first visitor to appear to Scrooge in "A Christmas Carol" is Jacob Marley, his former business partner. Marley's ghost appears to warn Scrooge about his fate if he does not change his ways.
reply means to answer back.
Both are terms, but for different aspects of a reply. You would decide what form and language to use "for the reply to Anne." If you were describing the contents of the reply, not the form, you would say that a word or phrase was "in the reply to Anne."
