Why you use brine as a coolant?

Because it has a lower freezing point than water. It can be cooled to below zero Celsius and remain in liquid form - making it a more effective coolant than plain water.

Why don't we use water in hydraulic systems instead of hydraulic oil?

Water can cause steel components to rust. Oil is much less corrosive.

Why is a Texas deck on an oil platform called this?

Originally steamboat cabins and decks were named after states. Since Texas was the largest state, the largest cabin or deck was named the Texas. This nautical use of Texas may be why the Texas deck on oil rigs is named this way. see also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_(steamboat)

What is an agar probe?

Agar probes are use in applications where there is an oil/water interface that needs to be monitored. Often in such interfaces an emulsion occurs (a mixture of oil and water droplets). Such emulsions make it difficult to determine between the emulsion and the pure water/ pure oil strata, using standard methods such as a float level. Agar probes emit microwaves, which are readily absorbed by water but not by oil. By measuring the level of microwave energy absorbed by the surrounding fluid the agar probe can be use to determine whether it is in a water, oil or emulsion strata. A typical application would be in the oil and gas production. The purpose here is to separate and remove pure water used in processing from waste oil. Since this water can be recycled for reuse in processing or even pumped back into the environment, it is important that only pure water and not oil or an oil/water emulsion is pumped from the seperator tanks. Agar probes are a reliable way of ensuring this.

What are the fluids used in pneumatic and hydraulic systems?

Pneumatic systems use air or an inert gas. Hydraulic systems use water or oil.

How do oilrigs work?

Oil rigs use large pipes to penetrate the sedimentary rock covering the oil. When they break the rock the oil travels up the pipes because of water pressure they do not need to pump the oil out.

What are the cost and benefits of oil rigs?

Well costs of oil rigs are that you hurt animals. And for benefits you can use the resource to live. That's all i can say ,but you know I'm just guessing here..

How many types of drilling rigs are there?

There are several types of drilling rigs used for various drilling operations, each designed to suit specific purposes and geological conditions. Some of the most common types of drilling rigs include: Land Drilling Rigs: These are conventional drilling rigs used on land for oil and gas exploration, water wells, geothermal wells, and other drilling applications. Offshore Drilling Rigs: Offshore rigs are used to drill for oil and gas reserves beneath the seabed. They can be fixed platform rigs, jack-up rigs, semisubmersible rigs, or drillships. Rotary Drilling Rigs: Rotary rigs use a rotating drill bit to drill into the ground. They are versatile and widely used for various drilling applications. Cable Tool Drilling Rigs: Also known as percussion rigs, these rigs use a heavy drill bit that repeatedly drops and strikes the ground to break rocks. Directional Drilling Rigs: These rigs are designed to drill at non-vertical angles, allowing wells to access reserves located horizontally or in specific directions. Auger Drilling Rigs: Auger rigs use a helical screw-like drill bit to excavate materials, commonly used for environmental and geotechnical drilling. Reverse Circulation (RC) Drilling Rigs: RC rigs use dual-wall drill rods and a down-the-hole hammer for faster and more efficient drilling. Core Drilling Rigs: Core rigs are used to retrieve core samples from the ground, crucial for geological analysis and exploration. Sonic Drilling Rigs: Sonic rigs use high-frequency vibrations to drill and retrieve core samples with minimal disturbance to the surrounding soil. Hydraulic Drilling Rigs: These rigs use hydraulic power for drilling operations, commonly used for water wells and geotechnical investigations. Each type of drilling rig has its advantages and applications, depending on the geological conditions, drilling objectives, and project requirements. The choice of drilling rig depends on factors such as depth, drilling method, ground conditions, and the type of material being drilled. Pole Hole Drilling Rigs Manufacturers

Could the oil rigs be stopped?

No. It will be like shooting ourselves in the foot. The world economy will take a huge knock. We will run out of oil much sooner and oil production from onshore wells will never keep up with the demand for crude oil. One can just imagine, fuels, lubricants, all plastics, waxes, asphalt to name a few are all products from crude oil. Considering that, why would one want to stop oil rigs? Whether we like oil rigs or not, we all use the products.

Does Scotland use fossil fuel oil?

Yes, Scotland both produces and uses fossil fuel oil. There are platforms in the North Sea for drilling rigs for both oil and natural gas.

It's called brine and it does. You can even mix it with water and use it as such.

How do you remove salt from olives?

Store in brine: Feta is traditionally sold in a brine solution (heavily salted water). It can be refrigerated, covered with the brine, for a long time. As the amount of brine decreases, add more. To make brine you mix one pound of kosher salt with 1 gallon of water. The salt may not dissolve completely; that is normal. If the feta is too salty, take the piece you want to use and soak it in a mixture of 1/2 water and 1/2 fresh milk for an hour. also you can alter the flavor of the feta by adding milk with the brine. I usually do this to make the feta smoother and creamier. But I worry about the milk spoiling so after about a week I change the mixture. I also replace the brine mixture every 4-6 weeks. Most Greeks don't, but I worry about contamination.
