2-heptanone (also methyl n-amyl ketone) is a solvent used in photoresists, paints, lacqures, and other polymer coatings. It smells very sweet and somewhat fruity, but is not acutely toxic, but contact should be avoided.
This chemical is used to prepare surfaces for bonding with loctite or some other type of epoxy adhesive. It basically serves to remove any oils from the surface being bonded.
The bonds in ethyl methyl ketone are covalent.
