It enables you to mark different points in a document to allow you to move to those points quickly, like a bookmark in a real book can do. It is useful in long documents where it has different parts, like chapters. It is a lot faster than having to scroll up and down in a document to get to the point you want.

∙ 9y agoA bookmark is a point in the document that you have set a mark at that you can jump to quickly, much like you would use a real bookmark in a real book. In very large documents they are useful ways of navigating around the document. You could set bookmarks in a document that has different chapters, by putting one at the start of each chapter. Each bookmark is given a name. By pressing the F5 key you can open the Goto window and then select a bookmark to jump to.
