Best Answer

A filter circuit is an electronic circuit made using capacitors and inductors. It is designed to produce a restriction on the frequency-bandwidth of an alternating input signal - such as, for example, a wireless/radio signal - to produce a narrower frequency- bandwidth as its output.

Another common use of an electronic filter circuit is to remove most of the ac ripple which remains in the output of a diode-based ac rectification circuit so that the resulting is of better quality.

What does filter do in a transformer?

A transformer does not use a filter. You may be asking about the use of a filter in a power supply. A power supply uses a filter to change pulsating DC from the rectifier into smooth DC for the circuits that the power supply powers.

Why you use capacitive filters in rectifier circuits?

In any rectifiers circuits the purpose is to get a DC voltage by giving AC voltage as input.by connecting capacitors parallally in the circuit it is possible to get pure DC output.capacitor filter only eliminates the ac quantities remainimg in the output waveforms.so that finally we get pure DC for further aplications in electronics circuits.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of series circuits?

There are no particular advantages or disadvantages of series or parallel circuits. Some circuits require one while other circuits require the other. Frequency filters often require one or the other depending on whether you need a pass or rejection filter.
