what is the difference between IELTS academic and IELTS general?

IELTS Academic: This version is intended for individuals who plan to study at the undergraduate or postgraduate level in an English-speaking country. It assesses whether the test-takers have the language skills required to study in an academic environment. IELTS General Training: This version is suitable for individuals who are seeking employment, training, secondary education, or migration to English-speaking countries. It focuses on assessing practical and everyday language skills in a range of social and workplace contexts. Reading and Writing Tasks: IELTS Academic: The reading and writing tasks in the Academic version emphasize academic contexts. The reading texts are more complex and may include topics like scientific research, academic journals, and textbooks. The writing task includes describing and interpreting data presented in charts, graphs, and diagrams. IELTS General Training: The reading texts in the General Training version are related to general topics that might be encountered in daily life, work, or social situations. The writing tasks include letter writing and essay writing on more practical and personal topics. Listening and Speaking: The two sections are same in both versions of IELTS. They assess general listening and speaking abilities, regardless of whether the test-taker is pursuing academic or general training.
