NADA guide values the 79 xs1100 special at around 2200.00 which is a bit low for west coast. I recently purchased one for 2000.00 with 11,500 miles in extaordinary condition and didn't think twice about it. Probably could sell for more but plan on keeping it for as long as I can ride,
I bought mine for $250.00 dollars and it took another $150.00 to get it riding. It may not be the prettiest bike on the street but it runs great and is a excellent learning bike.
I bought mine off of eBay for $300.00. I agree with the previous rider, it may not be the prettiest but, boy does it run. I had guys on R6's that couldn't keep up with my beast. You gotta look around for the deals. The Xs 1100 forum is a cool place to speak with others about their bikes and get all your questions answered. Very helpfull group.

I just bought one at 4k today... I felt it was a great deal. It is a 1980 Yamaha G2, with 2 pedals. I did some research online and it seems the value should be anywhere from 6500 to 9000 depending on condition.
50-500 usd
The Yamaha 850 XS is an air cooled bike. There is no radiator to fill.
If you are talking about the 1980 Yamaha Enticer, the top speed would be 55mph.
On a Yamaha 1980 XS400 the valve clearance for the inlet valve should be 0.0003 inches. The valve clearance for the exhaust should be 0.006 inches.
