With no mint mark or a D on the back, its retail value as of 11/2008 is roughly: Very worn condition - $2 Moderately worn - $8 Almost no wear - $50 Uncirculated - $80+ For a coin with an S mint mark, values are approximately double those of a plain or D dime.

August 5, 2009 The mint mark for this Barber dime is located on the reverse side of the coin. There is none on the obverse. If there is a "D" on the face it has been added after it left the mint. Marks such as this devalue a coin and in this case the dime would be worth bullion price which is $1.06 today.

The last Barber dimes were made in 1916. Dimes from 1946 to the present carry a picture of Franklin D. Roosevelt. Please check again and post a new question with the coin's date and mint mark, if any.
Your coin has been altered outside of the mint. The mint mark position on a Barber dime is on the back under the wreath; in addition the Denver Mint didn't open until 1906. The damage will reduce its collector value. Unless it has an O mint mark on the back, its value would only be a few dollars without damage, so you probably haven't lost very much.

There is no such coin. The first Mercury dimes were minted in 1916. Please check the date and post a new question. Dimes minted before 1916 are called Barber dimes, after their designer.
