It's not real gold. The Mint never struck any Ikes in gold. Your coin has been plated by a private company and sold as a "collectible". Unfortunately that makes it an altered coin with no extra value. It would cost more to remove the gold than it could be sold for.

∙ 16y agoEisenhower centennial dollars were struck in silver, not gold. If your coin is gold-colored it has been plated. Unfortunately the gold is only a few atoms thick, so your coin is mostly worth its silver content of about $17.

∙ 12y agoOnly one dollar. It isn't made out of any precious metals and is fairly common. Occasionally people have been able to get a few cents more than face value by selling them to a collector or at a garage sale.

∙ 12y agoEisenhower dollars are made of copper and nickel and only worth face value. If it's gold, it means someone plated it. Gold plated Ike dollars sell for around $5-10 on eBay.
