The M1 carbine in the 2-43 inland arms gen motors ssn are worth more than $100.
your question is not specific enough, .30 cal carbine can be anything, as for 1944 can also mean a very wide range of firearms. for the two I know of: M1 Carbine, .30 carbine caliber, semiautomatic carbine Inland - around $800 Mosin Nagant M44 carbine, manuf 1944 in very good condition (like if you bought "new" from a store) around $90. there are hundreds of ".30 cal carbine" that are also manufactured in "1944".
It was made between may 1942 and September 1943 by Inland Division of General Motors (G.M. cars)
Many books have been written on the M1 Carbine. Good luck.
The Inland Division of General Motors produced 2,632,097 and was the sole producer of the M1A1 Carbine. The Saginaw Steering Gear Division of General Motors produced 517,213 M1s. Produced 1941 thru 1945.
AnswerAbout 1 inch behind the front site there should be a date stamped. That was the date that the barrel was manufactured. My Inland is stamped 11/43 and has a seriel number of 93xxxx so yours should have been made later than that. If it was made during the war, the time between the barrel date and completion of the weapon shouldn't bee too long.I recently sold my other carbine for $450 but it was in really good condition.********FWIW, all M1 carbines made for the US Military were made between 1941 and 1945. Inland Division of General Motors made 2,632,097 carbines, and was sole producer of the M1A1 Carbine.
