You should first look in the Bluebook of Gun Values. In it, will be appraisals based on condition. Your local FFL gun dealer should have an up-to-date version, because this is the most common reference used when buying, selling or trading firearms. If this does not work, try to contact the manufacturer or subsidiary to do an archive check for you. This sometimes comes with a small fee but you'll get a complete history(if any) including month/year of manufacture.

According to the Omega website, a genuine Omega watch comes with a credit-card size warranty, with the 8 digit serial number, the watch reference and the retailer's full name and address. I would check the watch for a serial number to make sure it is genuine.

Walter Elsasser proposed that magnetic field intensity saturates near an Elsasser number of one. The Elsasser number is \Lambda=\sigma B^2/\rho \Omega where \sigma is conductivity, \rho is density, and \Omega is the Earth's rotation rate. Elsasser scaling is setting \Lambda=1 so that the magnetic field scales as B=\sqrt{\rho\Omega/\sigma}.
