If the coin you are referring to is gold coloured and has edge lettering, it is a presidential dollar, is made out of brass and worth no more than the $1 face value.
There is no 1921 barber silver dollar, it is either a peace dollar (eagle perched on a rock engraved PEACE on the reverse) or a Morgan dollar (Eagle with gothic lettering above it saying "In God we Trust" on the reverse)
Most are just worth the silver value but some have a change in the lettering on the reverse and sell for higher prices. Take it to a dealer to be sure.
If the coin is a regular-issue one with the proper edge lettering it has no extra value. Feel free to spend it. A comparatively small number were struck without edge lettering and are worth a significant premium.

The "Heraldic Eagle" reverse was first used in 1798. An authentic 1797 DB dollar should have the "Small Eagle" reverse.
The price hasn't settled down yet because this is a new error and no one's sure exactly how many were released without lettering. Prices seem to be in the $50 range but that could change.
