There were Indian head cents and Liberty head dimes.

Please determine which you have and post a new question.

The US dime produced in 1807 was known as a "Draped Bust" dime, and would not be mistaken for an Indian head. In fact, I am not aware of any US dime that could be referred to as an "Indian head" dime.

If the coin is a U.S. Indian head cent dated 1899 average value is $1.00-$3.00.

If the coin is a US Indian head cent dated 1899, average value is $1.00-$3.00

Check that coin again. There have been Indian head pennies (1859-1909) and nickels (1913-1938), but never on a dime, nor in 1838.

The US has never produced a "Indian Head Dime" of any type. A US dime dated 1914 is of the Barber series of coins. A coin in average collectible condition is $3.00-$5.00.

I think you mean Indian Head penny! Post a new question with more information.

The US never minted an "Indian head" dime. The only low-denomination coins with an Indian head design were cents (1859-1909) and nickels (1913-1938) neither of which was minted in 1944 or could be mistaken for a dime. Please check what you have and post a new question.

Indian head nickels were minted from 1913 to 1938. An 1899 nickel would be a Liberty nickel. Please check again and post a new, separate question.

There is no such thing as an 1899 mercury dime. Mercury dimes were not introduced until 1916. The Barber dimes that were in circulation in 1899 are made of 90% silver and are worth about $1.15 in metal value. The collector's value of the coin is highly variable, being affected by the condition the coin is in and the mint it was made at.

There is no such coin. Wheat cents were struck from 1909 to 1958. If you have an 1899 cent it is an Indian Head cent, not a wheat cent. Please see the related question for values.

This is a common date. Most have values of $1.00-$3.00.

This will vary greatly depending on date and mint mark.

Please check your coin again and post a new, separate question. A 1936 dime would have a picture of Miss Liberty on it. The only 1936 coin with an Indian head design is the nickel.

There's never been an Indian Head dime. A 1908 US dime has a picture of Miss Liberty.

The 1899 Indian Head penny is valued at around $0.75 to $30.00 in 2014, depending on the condition and how well it has been preserved. Very little quality Indian Head cents remain.

The first wheat cents were dated 1909. If you have an Indian Head cent, please see the Related Link.

An Indian Head what? Post new question.

I have an 1839 one cent indian head small penny is this a mistake? and rare maybe I have the only one. The first Indian Head cent was minted in 1859. You probably have a badly worn or damaged 1899.

To clear things up, wheat cents were made from 1909 to 1958. Indian head cents were made from 1859 to 1909. Please see the Related Question for more information.

A 1927 Mercury Head dime in average condition is $3.00-$5.00.

a 1942 Mercury Head dime is very common, if it has any wear the value is for the silver about $2.00.

All dimes struck in 1907 carried a picture of Miss Liberty. Are you referring to an Indian head cent? Either way, please check your coin again and post a new question with its denomination and how worn it is. If it's a dime, also check on the back under the wreath for a mint mark.

If it has any wear at all the value is for the silver only about $1.00. A uncirculated 1942 dime is about $2.50

A Mercury Head dime date 1926 with no mintmark has a retail value of $2.50 to $6.00 for a coin in average circulated condition.
