DISCLAIMER: The retail values quoted are the best available as of the date shown, but may vary significantly due to changes in the precious metals market. Also the wholesale (buying) price of a coin will be less than the selling (retail) price. A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation based on inspection of the coin.
Alternate wordings:These coins are almost always called Barber halves after their designer, Charles Barber. They're almost never called Liberty or Eagle halves because ALL half dollars have the word Liberty and an eagle on them. Morgan coins are dollars, not halves.
For an accurate assessment of value the coin needs to be seen and graded. Most coins of this type have seen heavy use and show a lot of wear. In general retail values for low grade coins are $12.00-$32.00, better grade are $90.00-$168.00 and coins showing almost no wear run from $312.00-$390.00

There were no dollar coins minted in 1909. If you have a dollar coin with a 1909 date on it, it is either a fantasy coin, silver round, or most likely a Chinese counterfeit -- I have seen many of these. In any case, its value will be only for whatever silver it may contain.
Value is for the silver about $2.50
