Silver Eagles
Silver eagles are bullion coins minted since 1986 for sale to collectors but not for spending. Morgan dollars were made for use in ordinary circulation just like dimes and quarters.
Why 1921?
The Morgan series was discontinued in 1904, but renewed demand for the coin forced one last year of minting before the new Peace design became available. The situation was analogous to the Anthony dollar that was originally discontinued in 1981 but had a final run in 1999, just prior to introduction of the Sacagawea dollar.
