August 10, 2009 The 1934 Indian Head Nickel was produced in 2 US mints: Philadelphia which is shown in this list as 1934-P and Denver which is shown in this list as 1934-D. To determine which coin you have it is necessary to locate the mint mark. This mark is a small letter and it is located on the reverse [buffalo] side of the coin just below the words "FIVE CENTS". A letter "D" is for Denver. If there is no letter the coin was minted at Philadelphia.
