New Zealand did not issue its own banknotes until 1934.

Any banknotes circulating in New Zealand prior to 1934 would have been issued by the various private banks operating in New Zealand.

Banknotes from 1923 to 1933 would be the most common of these, and notes in "Very Good" condition might get anything from $475 to $3,750 NZD.

Of the 1840 to 1923 banknotes, very few are known to exist and valuations are not given for any of them, other than the all encompassing "a few hundred dollars to many thousands of dollars (NZD).

A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a valuation on any such banknote.
