The U.S. has never minted a silver cent. 1943cents were struck in steel and can look silvery if they aren't rusted or tarnished, but all 1945 cents were made from copper.

If your coin is dated 1943 it's a steel wartime coin worth maybe 25 to 50 cents.

If it's dated 1945 and is silver in color it's been plated and is worth 1 cent.
