If you're referring to a 1964 half dollar, while it was issued in honor of JFK it's still a regular issue coin. "Memorial" and "collector" coins are usually special issues, while the Kennedy half was intended to circulate in the same way that Franklin halves did. Unfortunately, so many were saved as mementos, along with the fact that they contained some silver up till 1970, that the denomination effectively no longer circulates.

This is a novelty coin made by stamping Kennedy's head on a cent. This was NOT done by the U.S. Mint and it has no collectible value.
There's no such coin. Roosevelt is on the dime. Half dollars dated 1964 and later are Kennedy halves because they carry a picture of .... President Kennedy.
Please, turn the coin over and look at the denomination on the back. It's a HALF dollar, not a dollar. The 1964 Kennedy half is a 90% silver coin, but very common. The value would be only for the silver, about $15.00 as of 9-1-11.
