Answer1971 is a common date for Eisenhower dollars. All circulation strikes are made of copper-nickel, not silver. They'll have a dark-copper rim on the side where the copper core has tarnished over the years, and are worth about $1.10 in average condition. A dealer will pay face value. They simply made too many millions of these coins for them to be valuable.

As of 01/2010, an uncirculated one might retail for $3 or so if it doesn't have a mint mark, $2 if there's a small D above the date.

Collectors' versions were struck in 40% silver. These were sold in special packaging and carry an S mint mark. They retail for $6 to $10 on average, depending on quality.
It's a common date, still worth a dollar in average condition.

Most of them don't contain silver, and are still worth a dollar. The only ones worth more were minted in San Francisco.
