You didn't give the coin's denomination, but assuming it was taken from circulation the short and honest answer is almost certainly "not much".

Mexico's currency plummeted in value due to inflation during the 1980s, so much so that its old currency was withdrawn from circulation and replaced in 1992-93. Old pesos (noted with the "$" sign, just like U.S. dollars) were exchanged for new pesos at the rate to 1000 to 1. The current exchange rate roughly 10 new pesos to one U.S. dollar, so old pesos traded at as little as 1/10,000 of a dollar.

That is, take whatever denomination is shown on the coin and divide by 10,000 for its value in dollars, or by 100 for its value in cents.

The 1987 Mexico Onza has a silver value of $18.74. The collector's value of this coin can be as much as $60.

"onza" is Spanish for "ounce" so the coin contains one troy ounce of silver. Its value will also be affected by the current price of silver bullion which changes daily.
