NICKEL, not "nickle"
And not silver, either. The only 5-cent pieces to contain any silver were "war nickels" made during WW 2 because nickel was a strategic metal.
Those corrections aside, your coin is only worth 5¢ if it came from pocket change. Billions were minted. The design celebrates the Lewis and Clark expedition. They're not seen much in circulation because people saved them as curiosities.
If you found it in change your nickel is only worth face value. US nickels made from 1866 to mid-1942 and from 1946 to the present are made of a copper-nickel alloy, not silver. In fact, no circulating US coins have contained any silver since 1969.
All US nickels (except for silver war nickels) are 75% copper and 25% nickel, with a present melt value of 4.9 cents.
If you found it in circulation it's only worth 50¢. All circulating halves made since 1971 are copper-nickel, not silver. An uncirculated 2004-P or 2004-D half might sell for around a dollar or two, unless it's a very high-quality coin (MS-65 or above); as of 03/2010 these can retail for as much as $35. A copper-nickel proof (2004-S) sells for $5-18, and a silver "Prestige" proof is in the same price range.
A 2004 nickel is worth 5 cents. A gold-plated '04 nickel is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. There is no standard market value for modified coins like that.
$11-15
DOES NICKEL SILVER HAVE ANY VALUE$ thank you
Silver plated nickel will have no resale value.
Sterling silver is 92.5% silver with 7.5% copper and no nickel.
a 2004 nickel has nothing special about it. so it is worth its face value of 5 cents
It isn't silver. Nickel "silver" refers to an alloy of copper with nickel and zinc to make it look like silver but it really contains no silver at all.
A 1949 Nickel is NOT silver... it's worth about 5 cents. Sorry.
If you mean a Jefferson nickel dated 1942-1945 with very large mintmarks on the reverse, the silver value is about $1.00. They are 35% silver.
The value is 5 cents and it has no silver in it.
It's a 2004 Jefferson nickel that has been gold plated, has no collectible value and is just a fancy nickel.
It's worth about a dollar, just for the silver.
as of today silver prices approx 1.01usd
A nickel blank planchet; nickel-$5.00 wartime silver-$350.00
