A Bank of England Ten Pound note (Series E - orange)(Chief Cashier G.E.A. Kentfield)(serial HH) uncirculated and in absolute mint condition could fetch anything up to £25 GBP. If it has been circulated but still in good condition, it might fetch up to £12 GBP.

All serial numbers are unique, but most collectors would be looking for the first and last of a range such as HH00 000000 or HH99 999999 or anything with all numbers the same, or consecutive numbers such as HH12 345678, etc.

Your note may have some appeal to somebody who has that as a phone number or perhaps a birth date of June, 1978 for example, but apart from that, there is no significant value above and beyond any other banknote of its type.

A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation.

How do you date your 10 shilling note from bank of England?

Some of the very much older banknotes will have the date of issue prominently displayed on them. Alternatively, the first step is to identify the Chief Cashier which will place the note into a range of years for which that individual was the Chief Cashier of the Bank of England. Second step is to identify the leading characters of the serial number. With this information, you can consult a banknote catalogue and come fairly close to the year of issue.
