WOW! Good question! JOHN DEERe only made 31 of these!!!!! So yes, they are super rare. I've seen them go for anywhere from $5000 for an unrestored, stuck tractor to $29000 for a fantastic restored example. If you have one good for you and if you're looking at buying one, and it's in good shape for a reasonable price, good luck to you in buying it and preserving part of John Deere's past.

The John Deere LX172 38 inch blade deck uses a 65 by 1/2 inch V belt. If you ask for a 65 inch belt at an auto parts or hardware store, there is no need for a multi-numeral part number.

John V. McNally has written: 'As ever, John'
It is expressing a change in the value of something as a percentage of its original value. So, if the original value (V) changes to the new value (W) then the change is W - V. Then, the relative change is (W - V)/V and the percentage change is 100*(W - V)/V = 100*(W/V - 1)
