The value depends on its date. Philadelphia didn't put a "P" mint mark on half dollars until 1980 so that range covers 3 different metal compositions.
1964 halves were made of 90% silver and have a retail melt value of roughly 0.35 times the current price of 1 troy ounce of silver; check a site such as kitco.com for up-to-date metal prices.
1965-70 halves were made of 40% silver and have a retail melt value of roughly 0.15 times the current price of silver. Note that no 1968-70 halves were made at Philadelphia so all of these do have mint marks, and 1970 halves were only made for collectors.
Since 1971 all circulating halves have been made of copper-nickel and have no added value regardless of mint mark.
Of course, if your half is uncirculated or proof, it would be worth more as a collectible coin.

A Kennedy Half Dollar that was minted in 2007 and carries a mint mark of "S," was produced in clad and silver. The clad in a proof state is worth: $4; in silver, the value is: $7.00.
Please check the denomination of the coin. A 1971 One Dollar coin is an EISENHOWER dollar not a JFK dollar. Kennedy is only on Half Dollars. No matter what coin it actually is, both are just face value.
The value of a 1776-1976 Kennedy half dollar with an "S" mint mark can vary based on its condition and any special features it may have. Generally, these coins are worth around $5-10 if circulated and $15-25 if uncirculated. However, the value can significantly increase if the coin has errors or is in high-grade condition.
Unless it is in Uncirculated condition (in which case it may be worth a couple of dollars), a 1973-D Kennedy half dollar is only worth fifty cents. All circulating half dollars dated 1971 and later are made of copper-nickel, so they really do not have any premium value.
