$1

As I'm sure you know, these coins are not gold, they're merely golden-colored because they're struck in an alloy of manganese and brass (0.77 copper, 0.12 zinc, 0.07 manganese, and 0.04 nickel).

Unless your coin is a proof issue and still in its original package, you have a normal circulation dollar that is worth only face value. A couple of billion (that's with a "b") of these coins were struck so they are not rare. They circulate well in places that have lots of vending machines, especially like those used for trains and subways.

There is about a zero chance of them being worth more than $1 any time in the foreseeable future.

The melt value of the metal alloy is about 10 cents so they don't even have any intrinsic worth. They'll still buy you a dollar's worth of anything, so go ahead and spend it.

AnswerUnless the coin is in mint-state condition with a good golden color, or it's a proof coin, or if it's verified as being of a particular variety (such as the specially burnished dollars given to the obverse's designer, Glenna Goodacre), it's not worth much more than face value "Liberty dollar"

> All U.S. coins have the word Liberty or a picture of Miss Liberty on them so that's not an identifier.
