Hi, how do you know this is 1880 era, the john Middleton i knew in sheffield who made knives was still making them in the 1990s, in fact up until recently i had one he made me in the 1970s, should it be one of his i would think again depending on condition and quality of knife about 100- 150,hope this is of help.

Found another one being bid on at Christies auction- sold for $9000. Also, had appraisal from Christies- they wanted to start bidding at $2000, but would like 2nd opinion first. This is English clip point bowie, and is not Middleton Brothers, which may be the one you have that you are referring to. Thanks anyways though.
