It depends on the condition, and what accessories are available with it. Collectors value lower serial numbers, and the serial number indicated is near the end of the production run (there were 49,000 JW Commemorative's made). New in the box (no damage or wear to the box, with all accessories (leather strap, booklet, oil paper, literature, etc.) and never been fired or cycled, around $2500. Optional accessories, like the Bianchi leather scabbard, gun rack, etc., will also increase the value (they're worth about $450 each in excellent condition).
If you've got the commemorative ammo to go with it, that'll bump the value up as well. The original value of a single box was about $35.
The ammunition made came in a box that matched the gun box (Duke's picture on it), in 32-40 caliber, nickel plated shells, each stamped with "The Duke" on the primer end of the shell.
The value of any collectible including a Winchester John Wayne Commemorative rifle depends on a variety of factors. Do you have paperwork for the weapon? What is it's condition? Currently as of September of 2014, the rifle is valued at as much as 2 thousand USD.
Depending on te persons personal wants they can be as low as 500 or with box and pristine condition from $600 up. I have an unfired without a box for sale for $575.
Need to know if it is NIB, LNIB, used, etc..
4500 dollars
I'll give you a tenner for it.
As it is a 1892 Winchester rifle and used by John Wayne or Duke it will be very precious and a costly item.
The john Wayne colt and Winchester were both issued in 1981 for the Winchester and 1982 for the colt. The colt is a SAA standard in which 3,100 were manufactured in 1982. The Winchester going by serialization is a Canadian john Wayne which the the proper serial number should indicate CJW928(not CJWC928). with 1,000 of these manufactured in 1981. You can contact me at lgood303 at yahoo if you have any further questions on these. I am a commemorative collector and your items are somewhat appealing to me if you ever choose to part ways with them. Thank you. Lance
John Wayne used the same gun in several movies - a Winchester Model 94, chambered for a 32-40 round. The John Wayne Commemorative Rifle (I have one still new in the box I got 24 years ago) has engraved on the receiver all of the movies he used that particular rifle in. It differs from the standard Winchester in that the lever has a larger loop, making it stand out. Any John Wayne fan can spot the difference - in some movies, he'll even swap a regular Winchester for that one. Some of the movies he used it in are:The Sons of Katie ElderHondoThe SearchersStagecoachThe Man who shot Liberty ValanceEl DoradoShe Wore a Yellow RibbonThe War WagonRed RiverThe CowboysMcClintock! (my wife's favorite)Rio BravoTrue GritChisumHow the West was WonRio Grande
brand new with all paper work and box in unfired condition is $1200 to $1400
Its been awhile since I saw that movie but I think he had a Winchester rifle, pearl-handled Colt revolver, and I think a double-barrel shotgun. I've heard that in most of his movies the antique guns were all from his private gun collection. Since his death I think his oldest son had the collection.

I'm not exactly positive of the rife used in the 1969 movie True Grit, but John Wayne had a fond preference for his Winchester Model 1892 Repeating Rifle. One major distinguishing characteristic of this rifle is the large, oversized loop on the loading lever. John Wayne had one with a large gold "JW" emblazoned on the wooden stock. Here is a link to a replica of that rifle that was made By Winchester beginning in 1892.
44.40 carbine, and a 38.40 pistol...He carries a "Large Loop" short barrel carbine model 92 Winchester repeating rifle.

brand new with all paper work and box in unfired condition is $1200 to $1400
These are valued at 1,475 dollars in the condition you describe.
Unfired, like new condition, in the box, around $1800-$1900.
John Wayne's favorite drink was Sauza Commemorative Tequila.
Winchester repeating arms company. it was a custom model l894. the large loop was a sort of prop making it stand out on film.
