You should bring the dime to several coin dealers and ask for an appraisel. If they offer to buy it right away-be wary they may be trying to scam you. A lot depends on the condition, quality of the die mark and rarety. Only by consulting several experts will you have a true answer. Good luck. The missing last digit is almost surely caused by a foreign substance (like grease) getting into the die and preventing the full strike of all the design details. This happens all the time. While this error is neat, it's not rare, and has little added value -- maybe a dollar. So you don't need to get all paranoid about some dealer trying to scam you out of your family nest egg.
