In average condition, 1964 Kennedy halves and common, late-date Franklin and Walking Liberty halves are pretty much only worth their silver melt value. They contain about 0.36 troy oz. of precious metal; at (for example) $30/oz a dealer might pay $8 to $10 per coin.
Older, better quality, and/or less common halves can be worth more to a collector but it depends on date, condition, and mint mark. There are some values pages at the Related Links, below.

Pre-1964 US dimes, quarters, and half-dollars contain 90% silver by weight. A dime is approximately 2.5 grams of silver, a quarter is 6.25 grams, and a half-dollar is 12.5 grams, making it easy to calculate the silver content based on the face value of the coins. For example, a $1 face value in pre-1964 coins would contain approximately 0.715 ounces (20.17 grams) of silver.
Silver coins minted before 1965 contained 90% silver with 10% copper. The coins' weights are as follows. Dime: 2.5 grams Quarter: 6.25 grams Half dollar: 12.5 grams Dollar: 26.73 grams To get the weight of just the silver, multiply those weights by 0.90.
