Did Eisenhower made a commitment to send combat troops to Vietnam during his presidency?

The government of South Vietnam requested military advisors from the United States to help train the South Vietnamese army. Ho Chi Minh was a communist and during the Cold War of the 1950s and 60s, the aim of the US government was containment of communist power and not to let it spread. The Eisenhower administration provided South Vietnam with money and military advisors (not officially called troops) to help stop the threat of a North Vietnamese takeover. The United States also was pledged by treaty (SEATO) to aid the member nations in southeast Asia, if they were attacked by a foreign (communist) power.

Who won the Civil War in cambodia?

The Khmer Rouge won the first Cambodia Civil War (1970 - 1975). This led to the 'killing fields' genocide. A second civil war (mid 1980s - 1991) concluded with the reinstatement of Prince Norodom Sihanouk. A third civil war was more or less a continuation of the previous two, with the government fighting the Khmer Rouge until the final surrender of that group in 1998. An abortive coup in 1997 was termed a civil war by some. It was between factions of supporters of Prince Norodom Ranariddh and of Hun Sen. Hun Sen won out. The king abdicated due to poor health in 2004 and Norodom Sihamoni was selected by a royal council to replace him. This was done in peace and might signal that the end of the violence in Cambodia has come.
