Please take a closer look. What you have is a current circulation $1 coin from the Presidential Dollars series. "1801-1809" refers to the years Jefferson was in office. The mintage date is on the coin's edge, along with the mint mark and mottoes. Also, the coin is not real gold. It's struck in a gold-colored manganese/brass alloy.
Four designs are being issued each year until the portraits catch up with any then-living presidents, presumably around 2016 or 2017. Hundreds of millions are being struck for each president, so the coins are only worth face value. Feel free to spend it if you wish.
how much for 1
It's worth $2.01.
What you're describing is the Thomas Jefferson presidential dollar. Minted in 2007, it's worth exactly one dollar.
Please post new question with the date of the coin.
I'm not sure where you got those dates, as Jefferson was in office 1801-09. Whatever the case, modern Presidential dollar coins are worth one dollar.
Assuming you mean the series 1976 $2 bill, it's worth $2.
The 1993 Proof Thomas Jefferson 250thAnniversary commemorative silver dollar was issued as proof & uncirculated. Both have the same retail value of $19.00.
only $1 in average circulated condition. The coins are made of brass, not gold.
