The dates shown are the years that President James Monroe served in office. The minting date is incused on the coin's edge. If you look carefully you'll see it was made in 2008.
And as I'm sure you've heard about other modern $1 coins, it's made of brass, not gold. Hundreds of millions have been made so anything that you find in change is only worth a dollar.
