Uh, do you want to look at that coin again? Are you sure you don't have one of the state quarters that were issued from 1999 to 2009? They carry 2 dates, the date of minting and the date the state was admitted to the Union.

If Washington's portrait is on the other side you have an ordinary circulation coin.
