There were 3 major varieties of the 1840 Braided Hair Liberty Large Cent, which was only minted in Philadelphia. The value depends on what condition the coin is in and what variety the coin is. According to USA Coin Book, these are the values:

Large Date: Basically, the date had large numbers. In good condition, this coin would be worth about $17 up to about $285 in MS60 mint condition. In MS63 choice uncirculated grade, this coin is worth about $460.

Small Date: This date had smaller numbers In good condition, this coin would be worth about $17 up to about $285 in MS60 mint condition. In MS63 choice uncirculated grade, this coin is worth about $460.

Small Date - Large 18: This variety was rare in that this was a date with small numbers except that the "18" in "1840" was in large numbers. In good condition, this coin would be worth about $19 up to about $650 in MS60 mint condition. In MS63 choice uncirculated grade, this coin is worth about $1200.

You will get less if you sell to a dealer because they have to make a profit in order to do business.

Really need more information. 1840 Large Coronet cent in good condition is worth about $20. In mint condition could be worth thousands.
