Look on the back of the coin to see if there's a small mint mark letter below the wreath. It may be blank or there may be a C, D or O.

Numismedia lists the following approximate retail values as of 10/2011:

No mint mark (Philadelphia):

Very worn condition - $192

Moderately worn - $258

Slightly worn - $300

Almost no wear - $642

Uncirculated - $1,750 to $121,550 depending on quality

"C" mint mark (Charlotte):

Very worn - $505

Moderately worn - $1,020

Slightly worn - $2,340

Almost no wear - $11,762

Uncirculated - $29,900 to $41,880

"D" mint mark (Dahlonega, GA):

Very worn - $1,380

Moderately worn - $3,470

Slightly worn - $6,880

Almost no wear - $25,128

Uncirculated - $47,190 to $162,500

"O" mint mark (New Orleans):

Very worn - $288

Moderately worn - $450

Slightly worn - $570

Almost no wear - $2,534

Uncirculated - $7,940 to $46,150

DISCLAIMER: The retail values quoted are the best available as of the date shown, but may vary significantly due to changes in the precious metals market. Also the wholesale (buying) price of a coin will be less than the selling (retail) price. A reputable coin dealer will be able to give a more accurate valuation based on inspection of the coin.
